by Jackie Jamieson
The exhibition displays work completed whilst staying at the Verrocchio Centro d’Arte in the beautiful hill top town of Casole d’Elsa.
Jackie wanted to capture the light and colours of the landscape but she found she was more and more drawn to the rhythm and patterns; in the manicured planting of olive groves, grape vines and fruit orchards; in the rolling hills, and in the towers of hill top towns like San Gimignano.
The area is rich in Etruscan artefacts, notably in the local museum in Casole and in nearby Volterra. The sinuous shapes and elegance of the beautiful etruscan horses proved to be a wonderful source of decoration.
