Carl was born on 21st November 1926. He started working at Macclesfield College around 1968 teaching German. By the time he retired, he was Head of European Studies. Carl was the innovator of bringing teaching into industry, with him teaching German at, what was then, ICI in Alderley Edge. This had never been done before. He also interpreted at several football matches, between Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Carl and his family moved to Bollington in 1975. Around 1990, Carl took up his interest in photography and painting again, and joined Bollington Art Centre, where he went from strength to strength, as can be seen by his paintings in the exhibition between 22nd January and 12th February 2023, 2-4pm, at which time they may also be purchased. Carl and his wife, Vera, were avid walkers, both at home and abroad. He lived in the same house until he sadly passed away with COVID on 8th December 2020, having just reached his 94th birthday. RIP.
If you have any questions about the paintings, please get in touch with his daughter, Jan, who will be pleased to discuss them with you. E-mail jan.oarton11@talktalk.net.
Exhibition runs Sunday 22nd January to Sunday 12th February 2023. The Gallery is open 2-4pm on Sundays and during other events listed on our events page.
